It is now possible to translate exam forms to another language to create a different language version of the same exam form. This is achieved by exporting the exam form in a Trados recognizable format, translating it using the SDL Trados Studio software, and importing them back into ExamDeveloper.

Export Questions

  1. Navigate to the Exam Forms page.
  2. Click the HTML for Translation button corresponding to the exam form to be translated.

An exam form can contain only items with a single Language Code. This language code is the same as that of the exam form itself.

  3. The Exam Form is exported into a ZIP archive file containing files (and folder) as below:

    1. The HTML file contains the item data in the original language along with the language code near the top. This language code is common to all the items in the exam form.

Only the content marked with the red boxes is translated namely: language code, stem text, lead-in text, option text, option label, and additional text.

    2. Images folder with images present in any item, if any.
    3. Trados setting file required to import the exam form into Trados.
    4. Trados instruction file containing instructions related to Trados that the user must follow.
Refer to Translate A Document Using SDL Trados Studio for the translation process.

Import Translated Exams

Once the translation is made using Trados, an HTML file similar to the one which was exported earlier, but with the translated text, is generated by Trados.

  1. Select the Manage → Import menu and select the Exams tab.
  2. Click the Choose File button under the Select Translated file (*.htm) section.

  3. Browse to the Trados-translated HTML file with the exam form, select it, and click the Upload button.
  4. A successful upload results in a success message.
