Use "Set" or "Add" in Advanced Scoring for Enhanced Matching items

Pages/Feature:

Enhanced Matching advanced scoring rules, Examine Questions, Review Question, Question Summary, and Question History

Description:

Users can now configure "Add" or "Set" on advanced scoring for Enhanced matching items. The add option is a summation of scores for both the minvalue and the maxvalue in the QTI output. The set option allows users to configure the minvalue and maxvalue in the QTI output. These options identify the maximum and minimum number of points the candidate may receive if they answer the item correctly or incorrectly.

When users select "Add", the maxvalue in the QTI output is a sum of all the correct options for the item.

When users select "Set", the maxvalue attribute in the QTI output is the highest value from the options in the item.

Users can configure negative scoring for both "Add" and "Set".

When all the item scores are positive values, the minvalue attribute in the QTI output is set to zero.

When users select "Add", the minvalue attribute in the QTI output is a sum of all the negative values from the options in the item.

When users select "Set", the minvalue attribute in the QTI output is set to the lowest negative value from the options in the item.

When viewing items on the Examine Questions, Review Question, Question Summary, and Question History pages, users can see how the Advanced Scoring was configured. They are not able to edit the advanced scoring unless they are editing the item.

See the 2.4.10 Enhanced Matching Items topic for further details.

Remove External ID note if Statistics is not selected when cloning an item

Pages/Feature:

Examine Questions - Clone, Batch Edit Clone Questions

Description:

When users clone an item that contains statistics with an external ID, either as a single item or through Batch Edit, and they choose to not clone the statistics, the note telling users they have deselected statistics that are tied to external ID is no longer displayed. The item is now cloned and the statistics are not cloned to the new item.

Item with External ID comment and statistics that reference the external ID

Exclude statistics from the cloned item

Cloned item still retains the external ID comment, but not the statistics

Users are prevented from editing read-only items in a project, can add comments

Pages/Feature:

Examine Questions, Write Question, Delete Case, Add Case, Write Case Question, Review/Modify Question, Manage/Modify Question, Enemies Import, Question Metadata Import, Upload Assets, Update Blueprint, Import Questions, Batch Edit Questions, Translate Questions, Review Questions, Validate Questions

Description:

When an item is not editable in a project, Writers, Translators, Reviewers, Validators, Project Managers, and Observers are prevented from creating a new revision of the item. These users may add comments to the items at any time.

Users cannot modify obsolete item, can add comments

Pages/Feature:

Examine Questions, Write Question, Delete Case, Add Case, Write Case Question, Review/Modify Question, Manage/Modify Question, Enemies Import, Question Metadata Import, Upload Assets, Update Blueprint, Import Questions, Batch Edit Questions, Translate Questions, Review Questions, Validate Questions

Description:

Writers, Translators, Reviewers, Validators, Project Managers, and Observers are prevented from creating a new revision of an item if it is obsolete. Users may add comments to obsolete items as long as they are not creating a new revision of the item. For example, users may add a comment on the Examine Questions page.

Users are not prevented from adding a comment when they are on the Modify Question page, but when they try and save the item, they are notified they cannot save it because it is in an Obsolete state.

Removed Ignore Item Level Shuffle Response from Build QTI Package

Pages/Feature:

Build QTI Package Section Global Configuration

Description:

The Ignore Item Level Shuffle Response option has been removed from the Section level Global Configuration tab.

Users can define Item level shuffle response using the Advanced Properties tab for the item. See 2.3.6 Advanced Properties Tab for details.

If you want to override the item level shuffle control, this can be done using the PearsonvueSectionControl Shuffle Response option or the AssessmentControl Shuffle Response option.

See the 4.1.11.3.11 Override Shuffle Response in QTI topic for details on overriding shuffle response in QTI.

Convert Display-Type item to External item if it contains presentation Asset XML

Pages/Feature:

Write Question, Examine Question, Modify Question, Review Question, Validate Question

Description:

Display-Type items that contain presentation *.xml files attached as assets will be converted to External item types with the upgrade to version 2003. This is done since these display-type items are essentially external items.

Existing Display-Type item with presentation *.xml file as an asset

ExamDeveloper will convert the Display-Type item into an External item. The XML file is added to the QTI Item Snippet field.

The following elements are added to the QTI Item Snippet:

  • <item ident="QuestionNumber of the item"> </item> outside the <presentation> elements
    • When there is an External ID, then <item ident="External ID on the item">
  • Inside the <item> element at the end of the QTI code the following elements are added
    <itemproc_extension>
    <pearsonvue:itemcontrol scored="false"/>
    </itemproc_extension>

The following changes also occur for the newly created External item:

  • Validation is not run on the converted External item. The next time users edit the newly converted items, errors are thrown upon saving the item if poorly formed QTI is present. The errors identify where problems occur in the QTI so users can correct the issues.

    Icon

Users may want to open all newly converted External items and verify the QTI Item Snippet contains properly formed QTI.

  • Any existing content in the stem of the Display-Type will be lost when it is converted to an External item
  • Any other assets remain attached to the converted External item
  • A new revision of the item is not created
  • The QTI Item Snippet field is updated for all existing revisions of the item
  • The presentation xml file association will be removed from all existing revisions of the item

Icon

Users should not create Display-Type items with presentation XML assets going forward. The system will not prevent users from creating the Display-Type item, but the QTI will not compile if this type of item is included in an exam. Users should instead create an External item.

See the 2.4.8 Display-Type and 2.4.12 External Items topics for details.
